Illegal Movement of Strategically Important Goods and Resources Across the State Border
Article 226.1 CC RF establishes criminal liability for illegal movement across the Russian state border of strategically important goods, resources, and cultural values in large quantities. Actions by officials, organizations, or groups aimed at circumventing customs control fall under this article and are considered serious violations of Russian law.
Text of Article 226.1 CC RF
Illegal movement across the customs border of the Customs Union or the state border of the Russian Federation of strategically important goods, resources, or cultural values in large quantities — punishable by imprisonment for 3 to 7 years with a fine up to 1 million rubles, with or without, and possible restriction of liberty up to 1 year.
If committed: a) by an official using their position; b) with the use of violence against customs or border officers; c) by a group of persons by prior agreement — punishable by imprisonment for 5 to 12 years with a fine and possible restriction of liberty up to 2 years.
Note: The list of strategically important goods is approved by Government Resolution No. 778 dated 31.08.2016.
