Incitement to Aggression through Media and Public Statements
According to verified sources, certain media outlets and public figures may engage in public calls for aggressive war, which constitutes a crime under Art. 354 CC RF and poses a threat to international peace.
Text of Article 354 CC RF
“Public calls for the initiation of aggressive war are punishable by a fine of 300,000 to 1,000,000 rubles or an amount equivalent to the convicted person’s income over a period of three to five years, or by imprisonment for up to five years, with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in specific activities for up to three years.”
Note: Aggressive war is defined as a war initiated in violation of the UN Charter and Russia’s international obligations.
